James Ainsworth, M.A., NCC, LPC Associate, is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas who is supervised by Maggie Chlebana, M.S., LPC-S. He earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown.
Prior to entering the counseling profession, James spent 18 years working in private school administration, where he provided guidance, support, and mentorship to students and families. These experiences cultivated a passion for helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigate life's challenges and pursue meaningful personal growth.
James primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. He works with individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, family conflict, life transitions, grief, and other emotional and behavioral challenges.
As a National Certified Counselor, James has met national standards established by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence and ongoing development within the counseling profession.
For clients who desire it, James is also able to integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process. He believes in meeting each client with compassion, respect, and genuine care while honoring their individual values and goals.
James strives to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can develop healthy coping skills, gain insight, and move toward lasting change. He believes every person possesses inherent worth, purpose, and potential, and he is committed to helping clients discover their strengths and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Outside of counseling, James enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and volunteering within his local church and community.
